WANA (May 21) – Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, speaking to reporters about the negotiation process with the United States, stated: “We are currently reviewing whether to participate in the next round of talks. We stand firm at the negotiating table against excessive demands, but we have never abandoned diplomacy.”

He added: “We have already responded to unreasonable requests, and such unusual statements do not help the dialogue. Our position is completely clear: enrichment will continue, with or without an agreement. However, if the other parties seek transparency regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, we are ready. In return, they must lift the sanctions imposed based on unfounded claims about Iran’s nuclear activities.”

Araghchi emphasized that Iran is not willing to relinquish its legitimate rights, saying: “If further demands are made with the intention of depriving us of what is rightfully ours, there will be no room for acceptance.”

He also noted: “We are still evaluating whether negotiations can be held effectively at the proposed time and place.”

Indirect talks with the U.S. and Iran’s stance

In response to a question about indirect negotiations with the United States and recent remarks by American officials, Araghchi said: “Repeating irrational positions by the U.S. neither helps the negotiation process nor changes the reality. Our position is clear: enrichment will continue. We are ready to hold discussions for greater transparency, but in return, they must lift the sanctions.”

He emphasized: “Our goal in taking part in the talks is to defend the rights of the Iranian people. If negotiations do take place, it will be to achieve our reasonable demands. We are still assessing whether the proposed round of talks could lead to productive dialogue.”
